Ratbase

Welcome to Ratbase. This is a database for pet rats in Scandinavia. The project was started by Heidi Sjursen in 2001, as an attempt to find out which illnesses our rats mostly suffered from, and to possibly link this to other factors regarding the rats. With the help from Ruth Merethe Evang, the database took its present form during 2005, and was finally made public in 2006. Thanks to many eager contributors the database now containes information about 1280 rats. If it keeps growing, we might be able to look at some trends regarding health, temperament, lineage, breeding and several other factors.

The database will remain restricted to registered users until all present users have had a chance to check their entries. As many of the entries were submitted several years ago, it may need some updating.

The listed symptoms and treatments is not a complete list, and should never replace a visit to your veterinary if a rat is ill. We will try to keep the list updated with the most common symptoms and treatments.

If you want to submit data on your own rat, please start by reading our rules and instructions.
